Dawn Kum - Experienced Teacher, Administrator, Educational Consultant

As President of Integrated Urban Solutions, Dawn Kum draws on an extensive academic leadership background to deliver professional and management development training. Her consulting services include human resources and program and curriculum development. She delivers public and private sector solutions that accommodate diverse community needs. Dawn Kum capably navigates the public health and human services system and has informed juvenile justice programs.

Building on classroom teaching experience, Ms. Kum served as Faculty Associate with the Claremont Graduate School’s Office of Teacher Education in the mid-1990s. She instructed graduate education students pursuing teaching credentials on pedagogical methodologies. She also supervised interns and led seminars on cultural diversity. Ms. Kum emphasized the importance of community involvement and encouraged families to get involved in students’ academic advancement.

Ms. Kum’s experience includes leading the Village Academy of Maryland (VAMD) as Founder, Chief Executive Officer, Owner, and Operator. The institution met the needs of young people aged 14 to 21 living with emotional and learning disabilities and conduct disorders. She oversaw administration of diverse counseling and therapeutic services, as well as career technical education within diploma courses. More than 85 percent of VAMD students earned their high school diplomas.
